My thoughts on the FFVII remake.

I'll at least try the first installment; I had enough fun w/ demo for that. After that, we'll see how much I like the first installment.

Hero U: Rogue to Redemption

By the same minds that made the Quest for Glory series. Most of them, anyway.

I really, really hope that this game happens. I'll probably throw some money at it, if I have any again in time.

I keep meaning to post a longer update here (which isn't much, because not much happens around here on the best of days.)

Then I got sucked in by Glitch. Anyone here want an invite? I have two. (I keep telling myself that in a couple of days I'm going to have to quit and get on my first Coursera course if I want to do well, but that can come later, I suppose.)

This is why I haven't been online anywhere else lately. This game is fun, and amusing, and oddly soothing.

So I want to do the FF meme that everyone else is doing, but then remembered I was doing another meme and never finished it. Then I thought, why not do both at the same time?

Bad thing about this past weekend: It was Thanksgiving weekend. I mean, we were busy (but not as busy as we have been in past years, which actually concerns me a bit.) And my boyfriend was in another state for most of it to visit his grandma for the first time in years. Good for him, did not make weekend easier for me.
Good things: Good Thanksgiving dinner with my boyfriend's mother's family. Also, he sent a bouquet of flowers to my work in the middle of the day. Awwwww.

I haven't actually finished Mass Effect - I have all of the party members and I've finished the plot-important events in Feros and Noveria. I'm stalling before I go to Virmire, because since I played ME2 first, I know what happens there. So I'm finishing sidequests and helping out my crew before I go there.

So these thoughts are less about plot, so far, and more about gameplay. There are things in each game that I like, and there are things that I wish had been in both games. Overall I like the series; most of these are fairly small things. (I should read the novels at some point... I'd play the cell phone game too, just for the plot, if I had a phone that could actually play games. :p)

I've been trying to post this for days. I keep falling asleep at the times when I could use this computer. I think there was more to it, but I can't remember all of it anymore.

I really liked Mass Effect 2. I keep wanting to post a more detailed thing about my impressions of it, but I keep failing. For now, I really enjoyed it and I want to play the first one.

Speaking of playing the second game without playing the first...

So I've been playing FFXIII. It's not actually my copy; my boyfriend's roommate owns it. I'm trying to finish it up fairly quickly. (I did finally finish ME2, with no one left behind, so yay. But... they did end it on a scary note. D: I was sitting there, watching the credits roll, wondering how in the world they were going to follow that, because... damn.

Anyway, back to FFXIII.

On the whole, I like it! There are a few quibbles that I have with it, and it took me a while to get the hang of it (and to grow to like the characters - it took me a few chapters) but I'm enjoying it, and I want to see how this ends. (Currently in the middle of Chapter 10. I could be done with it faster, but I try to wait to play this when my boyfriend's around so that he can watch. And so I can mock him for his 'ships, which I only do 'cuz he's my boyfriend. ;p)

Next post I make about this game will have spoilers. I need to boot up the system and look at the datalog to refresh my memory.

Testing the poll option. Also, I'd really love to participate in some discussion about this, after a conversation on LJ and some further conversation about it with my boyfriend. Things that work for people, things that don't work for people, things people would put into their own games if they were designing their dream game, whatever. :D

Someone asked me a while ago to write up a spoiler-free impression of various games that I like, and why others might want to play them. I'm not good at reviewing games, but I figured, what the heck, I'd give it a shot. Hopefully I succeeded in the spoiler-free part.
