I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish
hardmode or not! I will definitely not be able to finish it with my current idea. That idea is going to be far too long, and once the rough draft is finished - which would probably take ALL of July, if not longer - it's going to need at least another month just to edit it down to something manageable. Which, um, I don't have. I'm going to try to write out a shorter, hopefully more manageable idea within the next three weeks, and then edit it down in one. That might work. If not... well, I'm just going to have to hope not to be struck down by crippling sleepiness and lack of inspiration next time I try something like this.
It's even more of a niche idea than the Claude/Opera romance, but at least one person has specifically expressed interest in it. It's the sequel/continuation to Fair Compensation that I've always wanted to write - a bit of backstory about Dr. Lantis and his daughter, his discovery of her fate, his rage and eventual desire for revenge, all leading up to him unleashing the Ten Wise Men... and then, after that, what inspired him to seal them away and task Filia to be their limiter. And I may end up doing a bit of tweaking to the original story, for continuity purposes... I don't usually do a lot of retrofitting, but in this case I think it's probably called for.
One annoyance, of course, is the fact that I don't own a PSP and therefore will likely never play the Second Evolution remake; everything I write is based on the PSX version of SO2, with a few liberties taken for the sake of continuity and plot, because there were quite a few glitches in the SO2 translation and things like that needed to be corrected for just a bit. But that's okay, I suppose. If I really want to, I can find a beta who's familiar with both versions and ask for help making sure that it at least will make sense to people who've only played the remake.
(On a side note, I hope I can still find a transcript somewhere of some of the scenes from the original game... especially the contents of the secret files. Although I might actually have game saves with the contents of the files on them, so I should check there first.)

Date: 2010-07-03 12:04 am (UTC)From:I STILL haven't started on either of my ideas, but for me, the rough draft generally IS the final draft, so to speak. Of course, it helps that I generally have plenty of time.
I've played both versions, so I could easily offer some help if you want it, but YouTube should have Second Evolution walktroughs, ESPECIALLY of the final battle.
