This took a lot of thought. Like everything else relating to what I want, it's hard for me to think of these things on the spot, so this might be added to throughout the day.
Things I want to do during my life:
- Meet an elephant (that's not being harmed in any way.)
- Cuddle a baby hippo (ditto)
- Edit and publish a novel.
(I've already managed to write a couple of first drafts. I've just put editing them to the side because of school.)
- Visit Europe again, now that I'm old enough and healthy enough to really appreciate it.
- Program and complete at least one game, even if it's a very small one.
(My current idea is a roguelike-inspired adventure game involving Mr. Bear, who goes off into a magical world and has adventures. Instead of HP and Stamina, he'll have Excitement and Sleepiness, and if Excitement gets too low or Sleepiness gets too high, he'll have to end his adventure and go home and rest. I'm nowhere near the level I would need to be to program a game by myself, though.)
- Do a freakin' pull-up by myself already.
(I know this sounds petty but I have never been able to do one, even when I was in my best shape.)
That's all I have for now - I'll think of more later, no doubt.

Date: 2014-12-02 05:00 pm (UTC)From:I think I should start viewing my own life in terms of excitement/sleepiness. Right now, sleepiness is starting to take charge. Maybe I should go drink some tea or something. :P
Can I ask what your novel is about?

Date: 2014-12-03 04:21 pm (UTC)From:It does seem like a good mechanic, although I might replace Excitement with Enthusiasm. I wanted to have a mechanic that would work for a Roguelike, but wouldn't involve Mr. Bear actually running out of Health, because that just seems mean.
My current two finished drafts... one is going to be novel-length, the other more of a novella. The shorter one is the much longer second draft of something I posted here a long time ago, about a town that ends up going overboard worshiping the "angels" that appear to them, but they don't turn out to be very divine after all. The longer one is my "one lady, one man and one agender alien are wandering through a planet that is basically covered by giant mushrooms" NaNoWriMo novel, and is eventually going to involve men-controlled-by-supercomputers meta, civil war in various fractured human settlements, and warring fungal hiveminds. I wrote a one-line ending to finish the draft with. I think I know how to expand it; I just need to develop the ideas that lead up to it a bit more.
I still have a bunch of unfinished drafts, including some short stories I thought I had lost and then realized I had e-mailed them to myself when I was going through old drafts. I'm just taking an extended break from them. I tried to do a low-pressure NaNo this year, but I was so tired and so focused on math that I couldn't find time or energy to do much in the way of writing.)

Date: 2014-12-03 05:15 pm (UTC)From:(Kind of related. If you ever read books about health-related things, I would recommend looking up Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes. It really changed the way I view food and how it interacts with my body and at least understand why I feel the way I do, including being really lethargic, even if I don't always act on it like I should.)
Also, holy crap, high-level engineering stuff?? What are you going to school for, again? I thought it was related to computer programming, for some reason, but... uh. I think I may have gotten things mixed up in my brain.
Oooh, I'll have to take a look at the angels story sometime. I really like subverted religious tropes. (It'll probably be awhile before I manage to actually read it, just so you know!) And I remember you talking about that NaNo, back in the day!
