Most of my time's been taken up by the Coursera class I'm still taking, because I want to have a fairly strong finish on it (I keep missing one question on the quizzes, and I need to finish the first project, argh.) The rest of it has been taken up by editing the short story novella that I'd written a couple of years ago and wanted to try to publish. It's gotten a bit... long.
These are the things that have distracted me:
- Occasionally streaming FFVII to an empty room for Moogle University. I'm really mostly doing it to see what I can see from the game. I should go though my videos and make highlights; I've been meaning to! I just, um, cannot seem to stand the sound of my own voice, which probably means I shouldn't make streaming or podcasts one of my hobbies.
(I'm not streaming now; it's too late for me to focus.)
- Seed: Plant Breeder. It has pretty flowers. You can (sort of?) crossbreed them and make new flowers, and occasionally even if you don't, the flowers will mutate on their own when you plant them. It's quite fun. (Also I've figured out a few bits and pieces of "DNA" and it's also fun to edit them and see what happens even when I don't know what they do.)
- Welcome To Night Vale, which I find cute and charming and creepy in equal measure. People have said things about this podcast much more eloquently than I could have, so I won't force it right now, because I'm tired. I'll just say that I'm not that far into it, but am already finding it utterly adorable, and I might even try to illustrate it even though I'm not great at drawing. (It's a podcast in the style of a radio program, and has a lot of visual gaps to fill.)
- Camp NaNoWriMo. Being able to set alternate word goals that aren't 50K is nice, once in a while. It's the only way I'm going to be able to finish this rough draft.
Add in the programming project I mentioned not long ago, and things have been busy. Not overly so, but enough that I feel fairly good about my productivity. I'm trying to be careful about it, because I don't want to burn out... so far, so good!
