One of my friends is saying he'd pay me a reasonable amount of money to create a program that would run combat quickly between NPCs in a D&D setting. (He suggested starting with Pathfinder; I'd probably start with the basic ruleset and then work my way up. Once I know how to do it with one ruleset, I'm sure I can add more in later.)
One, I'm sure it already exists somewhere. Two, I only really know Python, and that's not a good language to code a stand-alone application, not that I've seen so far. Three, I've got two online classes I'm working on right now, not to mention work. Four, I'm still sick. (I hate going to doctors, but I may not have a choice here.)
...I'm probably going to try it anyway, though. Although we might need to re-negotiate pay if this ends up taking longer than he expects, which it probably will. I'd prefer not to set a precedent of working for less than minimum wage unless he's willing to offer something that would compensate for the difference, considering that he's a friend. (Is it greedy for me to say that about a friend?)
