I am beyond sick of how politics defines EVERYTHING in this country, even things that politics shouldn't have anything to do with at all.
The most recent example: Whether or not you think that someone who has abused a child should be punished for it shouldn't depend on what your political views are. And yet, that's exactly what's happening with the Duggar family. One side is yelling and shaming the guy, and the other side is responding with, "Stop it! God's forgiven him! And why didn't you say anything when Lena Durham was talking about abusing her sister in a book?" And I'm just sitting here mentally screaming, because it shouldn't matter about their politics, they should be punished appropriately for hurting children and their victims should get whatever help they need! That's just about being a decent human being, and there shouldn't be any debate about it!
(Okay, that's the only bit that should need a warning.

I mean, when did everything in this country become partisan? I know it was always there, but I suppose I'd never realized just how severe and ever-present it was, when even the most basic and (I would think) undeniable things have become cause for a schism along party lines.
This system is unsustainable. If the political parties can't agree on something so basic as what I was saying above, then it's only a matter of time before the whole thing blows up.
