Apparently I tried to do something similar to the December thing a few years ago. I had completely forgotten. *adds some of those ideas that I didn't get last time to the list, in case I don't get many requests this year*
(...but yeah, feel free to request topics.)
Currently sitting and doing physics homework. I'm on the last question, and it is by far the hardest one, because I hate torque so much. Rotational dynamics are the one thing from last year's class that I just didn't get. (This year, so far, it's electric potential. It would have helped if I had learned about vector fields earlier in calculus, though. I think I could've made more sense of it if I'd known how the fields and the potential zones meant, mathematically.) But if he's going to be asking questions about torque and magnetism, I'm going to have to go back and look at it some more. Maybe see if I can get some tutoring.
In unrelated news, apparently hippos are the new cats. The worst cats, even. (It's just ridiculous enough for me to find adorable. And it doesn't help that I like baby hippos.)

Date: 2014-11-17 07:59 pm (UTC)From:Still, I like it, and at the same time I know it's not for everyone - and I don't think I have the patience to be a historian. (What's your area of interest? Or, um, whatever you would call it?)
I do like hippos in general, especially the little ones. (I think I commented once and said that I'd love one of those little guys, but I don't want to be that jerk who abandons a pet when it gets too big. I would like to get the chance to hug a little hippo at some point, though I doubt it'll ever happen.)

Date: 2014-11-17 08:29 pm (UTC)From:I am an East Asian historian, with my particular interest being conflicts between Japan, China, and Korea. I have a special fascination for WWII in the Pacific and for the Auschwitz of the East - Unit 731. Eventually I will get into grad school and further my efforts to possibly write a book on Unit 731. It's my passion. But I am not due to enter grad school until 2016, due to health complications - long story - so I am currently working on my admissions essay.
You might be able to hug a hippo. Stick it on your bucket list and make it a goal. And if you do, I am sure that all of your reading list would like to see pictures! :D

Date: 2014-11-17 09:30 pm (UTC)From:I was older than other graduates too, but in my case, I need to have at least a master's to really do anything with my degree that I want to do. But I am pretty sure that Computer Engineering is a more employable field than mine right out of the box, yes?
Yeah, Unit 731 is pretty horrifying, but it's my thing. What gets me is how it has pretty much vanished from history due to Japanese history retconning and cover up but several governments around the world in order to get access to information. I want to be on the forefront of this as things continue to be declassified. So, yeah, it's my thing. :)
