(I didn't end up getting home until late anyway. I ran across a cute little lost dog with two disconnected phone numbers on its collar, and me and another lady stayed with it until we could finally get in touch with Animal Services. Fortunately, they said they wouldn't have any trouble finding its owner. I hope they're right.)
