Okay, so just so you all know?
Bastion is a fun game with awesome visuals. It is also basically everything I've ever wanted out of a post-apocalyptic fantasy narrative.
Short, spoiler-free summary: A young soldier wakes up on a rock floating in the sky, having miraculously survived a Calamity that has destroyed his city and turned most of the people he finds into ashes. He has to fight off wild angry beasts, search for whatever survivors he can find, and collect power sources for the Bastion - the place that is supposed to be the city's last refuge in case of trouble. But as he searches, he quickly finds out that things aren't nearly as simple as he's been told.
Seriously, this is a wonderful game. The only real quibble I had was with play control, which might've been due to me not being used to playing on my laptop. The combat system is fun, the sounds (both music and narration) are incredible, the graphics and art are beautiful and otherworldly. The story is excellent, and is told in a way that manages to be far-reaching without diminishing the emotional impact that comes with having a small, close-knit cast. It's just a really great game, all around, and I wish that a lot more people would play it.
