Okay, so.

More coherent people than I have already spoken about the delicious changes. Here's a linkspam that summarizes a lot of things.

I had wanted an account some time ago to keep track of links, and after [community profile] sidequest was created I wanted to make an account to keep track of prompts. Not now, though. I have no idea who their target demographic is at this point - and frankly, I'd like to know who they're hoping to attract with their new service! - but I am very obviously not in it.

Has anyone here used Pinboard for any length of time? I would like to know, since each account requires a small fee to sign up, how easy it is to separate links into different topics that can be browsed separately. I don't want to sign up and add links that are of personal interest to me if I have to turn around and buy a new account just to be able to link [community profile] sidequest prompts separately. I would have to choose one or the other. Probably fannish things, because honestly? I don't really share links to random things that often, and I could probably just create a post here for that purpose and keep it updated on its irregular basis, and be fine with it. (And yes, I know it's just under ten dollars, but frankly, that's a lot of money right now. Things will be better at the beginning of October! I just need to be careful for now.)

I had to move my linklist that I kept for sources at work (mostly for my interns) to Diigo. Not sure if that would help in your case or not, as I merely moved shit there and promptly forgot about it.

I've used Pinboard for a a little while (and will be using it a lot more now that I have rage-deleted my Delicious account), and it doesn't support tag bundles. You can browse by combinations of tags, so if you tagged everything from [community profile] sidequest, you could link to that and then let people drill down by adding fandom, character, or whatever tags to the display. It may also be a little unintuitive for users, since clicking a tag's name (rather than the + sign next to it) will display links tagged only with the new tag rather than adding it to the original one.

But the developer of Pinboard is asking what features fannish types consider must-haves (which YAY), so we may see them or something similar implemented in the future.

The suggestion box is actually a Google Doc of awesome. I'm not sure if someone's already suggested something similar in there, since I was busy being blown away by how much is going on.

I can't even view the doc on my netbook anymore without crashing Chrome, so I have to make it to the end. I wonder if the Pinboard developer is totally overwhelmed yet. :P

A subaccount-like feature would be pretty neat, because sometimes I get tired of maintaining separate accounts (or making everything private) to keep my tastes in porn from intersecting with my RL acquaintances.

Your mystery person remains a mystery, alas; all my bookmarks somehow imported as private (I am 98% certain this is Delicious's fault), so I've been putting off adding anyone until I've sorted out making the right links public again. (I can PM you once I do; it's under one of the usernames I also use for RL stuff, so I try to avoid linking it to my fannish ID anywhere that Google might be peeking.)
