NaNoWriMo: Day 1.5
...I passed out last night before I could do any of this. This whole waking-up-at-four thing is doing horrible things for my night life, such as it is. But being up early in the morning to get an hour of writing in is apparently helping my productivity.
I will be writing more today! I just need to do this now before I forget.
Total so far: 4,479/50,000
Time spent writing: ...? Six-ish hours? It's hard to tell how much of that time was actually writing and how much was other things with the document open. I should really use WoD more.
Snippet:
Current distraction: Inn at the Crossroads. I've not read the ASOIAF series yet - it's been on my to-do list for a while - but I'm a fan of medieval-inspired cookery, and this looks delicious. There's a recipe for honeyed chicken that looks wonderful, and I'm going to make it today, even if I only end up making the sauce and buying a precooked chicken (which may happen - today'll be a busy day.)
Will set up filters later - for now there's apparently a local event happening within walking distance, and I'm going to try to go to it and get some more work done.

He couldn't sit down, couldn’t focus on his studies or even on his favorite stories, the ones about the engineers and scientists who got sucked into strange and dangerous situations and had to save the world. Maybe it was a terrible cliché, but he loved those sorts of things. He wanted to be able to save people using science. Of course, the fact that most of the men and women in the story were also really, really good with guns or good at unarmed combat hadn't escaped him, but he could dream sometimes, couldn't he?
