It's hard for me to do monthly updates anymore. I'm always busy and time is meaningless. Work feels like it's getting better, but it's still hectic, and time is blending together; I'll think of an issue I'm pretty sure I worked on a few weeks ago, and it'll turn out to be three months ago. This is what life feels like.

I'm proud of being able to write what I did the last two months, and particularly the original work I managed to write. I'm looking at Neocities and trying to decide if I want to have a small site there for more original universe things, like story bibles, things to keep track of my own ideas. I definitely realized there were a lot of ideas that I lost in the multiple years between starting them and now, when I managed to complete a few story arcs.

(In particular, The Witch and the Tower is probably never going to be finished, or if it is it will look very different from the actual original idea. I don't identify with the character I identified with before so the driving force behind it is gone now.)

Unfortunately it's been a few weeks now and I don't have any real inspiration to write, mostly because of being busy or tired from being busy. I hope it won't be another seven years before I can come back to this with any kind of energy.

I am still trying to decide what to do with the Neocities account I created. If I ever finish one of the Twitch games, I'll probably post it there. (I had an entire story in my head a few years ago for something about an abandoned mall, but never wrote it down. Or if I did, I lost it in the great archive crash ten years ago. So I'm trying to reconstruct that from what I can find, and it's just. Not working. Maybe I should try something else.)

A personal archive/gallery would probably be a good idea, considering just how many things are done are just scattered on the web these days. (I made a personal discord to help with scheduling and upload some art things there, but a web site would be better for that.)

I really can't help but wonder how many people would be happier with a non-social-network gallery for their stuff, whatever it might be. I've seen people get all kinds of nasty aside comments on things like Tumblr lately - like the whole "You know I can see tags, right?" thing I see from multiple people once in a while, many of which I completely agree with, there are some things that people say in tags that are dickish and I think Tumblr made a mistake making them visible by default. Anyway, it really feels like they need a place where they can put their stuff out for people to look at, and the comments people leave can be on their own space if they choose, unseen by them.

I went to a cake shop yesterday, where the big gimmick is DIY cake decorating (and you can get classes there, etc...) I know where I want to go for my next significant birthday party.

I always kind of wanted to learn to decorate cakes when I was young. But now that I could potentially afford to do so, we don't really have the space. Although I could probably figure something out if I did some work to clean the kitchen. I've always liked cake decorating and all the neat things you can do with it.

(Apparently one of my most-read books from my childhood was the 1974 Wilton cake yearbook.)

Replaying the FF games since I got the pixel remasters as a gift (I still need to actually finish 3, even though I'm nearly there, and finished 1 and 2.) Kind of weird to see the Crystal Tower and surrounding areas in their natural habitat.

I'm on 5 for now - I wanted to play the job system I was used to there - and reached the Castle of Bal, which is basically where I pause the game for days to grind. I have discovered that if I set things up so that at least one character is below 100 ABP to the next level, I can pretty much grind indefinitely.

(It's seriously nice to see this game with a competent translation, though. I only played the PSX release of this on console - I never got the GBA release.)

Also - I think I said this elsewhere but I remember back in the day in the Ship Graveyard that it gave me a LOT of trouble.

You know, this place where you have to go underwater a lot?



When I first, first played this - a LONG time ago - I don't know why but the rendering made the water opaque. I thought it was supposed to be like that and you just had to pick your way through the underwater areas until you found the exit.

It... took a while.

Decided to go through some prompts just to see if I can find anything to say; brain fog has just been nuts lately. Starting with snowflake_challenge even though I'm six months late and going from there. (First challenge is posted on personalapocalypse already.)

Also spent today beginning to get polyamships up and running on DW, and we at least have the bones in place. Going to talk with the other mods about events and stuff before I go crazy with posting more things.

I'm still around, work is going fairly well, trying to stay on top of it is a challenge but I'm apparently doing well. I stop by and try to read when I can. I wish I could schedule posts here as it would make it a lot less intimidating to try to keep up with still having one of these.

I'm poking around with Twine again for fun, and I've been trying to figure out how to do something but can't figure out how to ask. I can usually find these things so this is weird.

Specifically I want a cut link like you can do on DW. It's an adventure game and I want the option to show or hide the descriptions of the rooms at will. I could just put the descriptions in their own passages, but I feel like that would clutter the story map more than it needs to be.

Anyway, I've worked with Twine before and gave up on it, for reasons I don't remember. Right now I'm using it to write a story that I've tried to code before using an engine, but I don't have a computer to do a lot of coding on right now. Saving for a new one, but with the medical bills and student loans, it's taken a back seat.

To be quite honest I don't know if I did or not. Work has been difficult and I feel like my main goal has been getting through it, especially when I am on call on weekends.

I did manage to write 11 days out of the month. Mostly small amounts of writing on larger projects, but it counts.

My main goal for this month is just to focus on getting through work training. I'm so busy during the day that I can't get it done. It has to be in the evening.
